Position Purpose :
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Architecture team and play a key role in establishing our firm’s first in-house MEP practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative solutions from concept through production. Essential Functions :
- Design mechanical systems, components, and products using CAD software
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designs
- Develop and test prototypes, evaluate performance, and implement design improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and architects
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and specifications
- Participate in lifecycle management, including concept development, prototyping, production, and support
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and codes
- Troubleshoot issues related to design, manufacturing, or product performance
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for product design and engineering processes Required Traits & Characteristics :
- Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools, BIM experience preferred
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements Required Education / Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10-15+ years of experience in mechanical design
- Professional Engineering (PE) license Travel :
- Position based in Royal Oak or Southgate, Michigan
- Travel between offices for collaboration with team members and for project meetings will be required
