Salary : $60,000 to $90,000 DOE, with Full Benefits

Location : GE Transportation - (A Wabtec Company) - Erie, PA

Qualifications

  • The technician must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks appropriately
  • A self-starter and self-disciplined in accomplishing tasks can ask questions, find answers
  • Basic understanding of testing concepts
  • Hands on mechanical experience and ability to prototype testing procedures
  • Lifting requirements : lifting

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the operations team, the Mechanical Testing Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision
  • Prepares material specimens for testing
  • Performs tests as directed by customer specifications
  • At times operates under the supervision of a more senior test technician and / or a Department Manager
  • Gathers and records test data
  • Collaborate with team to conduct testing, collaborate with engineering teams to develop and refine test procedures
  • Constructs and maintains various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order with little supervision
