Job Summary Individual contributor responsible for managing, developing, analyzing, and monitoring a highly complex book of Cyber / E&O and Media insurance policies. Recognized as a technical expert in underwriting, working within broad authority on assignments requiring high technical complexity and coordination, potentially across regions or company-wide.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assess complex underwriting risks using diagnostic analysis and develop specialized endorsement language.
Determine appropriate pricing based on financial and competitive analysis, ensuring compliance with minimal oversight.
Recommend underwriting policies and pricing strategies.
Analyze and report on the quality, quantity, and profitability of underwritten risks.
Market products through agencies and brokerage, including field visits.
Build and maintain relationships with large producers in the assigned territory.
Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and participate in trade groups if applicable.
Mentor less experienced underwriters and contribute to underwriting training programs.
Utilize advanced CNA systems for daily activities.
Lead special underwriting projects and presentations.
Reporting Relationship Manager or above
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Advanced underwriting expertise and thorough knowledge of insurance principles and practices.
Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with project management capabilities.
Ability to handle ambiguity and develop creative solutions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
Leadership qualities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; professional designations preferred.
Minimum of eight years underwriting experience.
Compensation ranges from $72,000 to $141,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and location. CNA offers comprehensive benefits to support employee wellbeing.
