About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Project Manager with expertise in Biomedical Technologies, focusing on maintenance, sustainment, and operational support of medical devices and systems within a federal healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the unique demands of supporting biomedical systems in government hospitals and clinics, including compliance, lifecycle management, and technical coordination across departments. You will lead ongoing support operations and enhancement projects for biomedical equipment, ensuring system reliability, safety, and compliance with federal regulations. This role involves working closely with clinical engineering, IT infrastructure teams, vendors, and government stakeholders to manage biomedical assets and support initiatives that directly impact patient care.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage sustainment and support activities for biomedical systems and devices across government healthcare facilities. Lead preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and lifecycle management efforts in coordination with clinical engineering and IT support teams. Track performance, uptime, and service records for biomedical devices; ensure issues are resolved promptly and systems are compliant with VA / DoD standards. Coordinate upgrades, patches, and device refreshes in accordance with approved change management processes. Collaborate with vendors and service providers to manage contracts, SLAs, warranties, and field support. Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated biomedical technical issues and project workstreams involving equipment sustainment. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards such as FDA QSR, HIPAA, Joint Commission, IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and VA Technical Reference Model (TRM). Prepare and deliver reports on device performance, support metrics, and project status to government leadership and contract management teams. Support incident response as needed related to biomedical systems.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Technology Management, Information Systems, or related field. 8+ years of experience in technical project management, with 3+ years focused on biomedical systems within a healthcare environment. Strong understanding of medical device operations, maintenance cycles, and integration with health IT systems (e.g., EHRs, PACS). Experience working within federal healthcare environments (e.g., VA, DoD, HHS) or with government contractors supporting biomedical equipment. Familiarity with CMMS tools (e.g., TMS, Nuvolo, Maximo) and device lifecycle management best practices. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with experience reporting to government stakeholders. Working knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and IT governance frameworks (e.g., FITARA, FISMA). Clearance eligibility (e.g., Public Trust, Secret).

Preferred Qualifications :

Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification. Experience with VA's Technical Reference Model (TRM) and DHA biomedical standards. ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, or biomedical technician certifications (CBET) are a plus. Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks as they relate to medical devices and networked clinical systems.

Expectations

Must reside in or around the Arlington, VA area. Perform additional duties, as assigned. Willing to travel up to 25% as needed. Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations. Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position.
