Description
Data Engineer providing specialized infrastructure development and database architecture support for the Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (SHAREM) program at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC). This engineering-focused position emphasizes building, developing, and creating robust technical solutions within the Naval Ship Tracking, Reporting, and Analysis Tool (NSTRAT) system and FLANKSPEED IL6 AZURE cloud environment. The role combines systems engineering expertise with advanced application development capabilities to engineer comprehensive data analysis tools and create automated solutions that support exercise reconstruction and analysis activities for the REM program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Systems Engineering & Infrastructure Development
- Engineer and develop the Naval Ship Tracking, Reporting, and Analysis Tool (NSTRAT) System infrastructure to ensure optimal application and service performance.
- Build robust troubleshooting solutions and develop system architecture improvements within the FLANKSPEED IL6 AZURE cloud services environment.
- Design and implement system monitoring solutions and create automated performance optimization capabilities.
- Develop technical solutions and engineer system improvements to resolve NSTRAT system issues through FLANKSPEED hosting services coordination.
- Build and implement system updates and maintenance frameworks to ensure continuous operational capability.
Application Engineering & Tool Development
Engineer and develop software solutions, including NSTRAT updates, based on evolving DoD / DON directives, including quarterly STIG updates.Build comprehensive data analysis tools and create event reconstruction capabilities using Python and other programming tools.Develop and implement corrective maintenance solutions and engineer system enhancements for existing applications.Create automated data analysis products using Python with integrated programming tools and database connectivity.Engineer software testing frameworks, develop validation methodologies, and build deployment solutions for system improvements.Database Engineering & Architecture
Design and engineer comprehensive database entry systems, build management frameworks, and create automated back-up solutions.Develop database query analysis capabilities and engineer automated analysis tools to support exercise reconstruction requirements.Build database access systems and engineer data distribution solutions for supporting and requesting commands.Create database integrity solutions and engineer automated archiving and retrieval capabilities.Design and implement database performance optimization systems and build automated monitoring solutions.Requirements
Experience
5+ years of Navy experience managing Navy computer networks3+ years of experience using Python and other programming tools to script data analysis productsRequired Certifications & Technical Skills :
Hold and maintain certifications and / or training to maintain FLANKSPEED IL6 AZURE Privileged Access to include :AZURE Administrator Associate AZ-104IAT Level II iaw DoD 8750 Approved Baseline CertificationsRequired Competencies :
Strong engineering skills in systems development, database architecture, and application development.Proven ability to design and build complex technical solutions in cloud computing environments.Experience with Microsoft AZURE desired.Ability to work independently while engineering multiple technical systems and automated solutions.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for developing database solutions and system optimization.BENEFITS PACKAGE
