About The Position

Description :

The position involves providing care for patients on a medical telemetry unit.

The unit focuses on managing patients with heart failure, chest pain, and those requiring fluid resuscitation and blood products.

Common patient diagnoses include COPD and post-cardiac catheterization care.

Patient ratios are generally 1 : 4 to 1 : 6, with surge times possibly increasing to 1 : 7 to 1 : 8 based on acuity.

Nurses will be responsible for advanced skills such as PIV starts, NG tube placement and management, pleurx drains, and chest tube management.

Nurses will also perform cardiac rhythm interpretation and manage non-titratable cardiac drips.

Support staff includes CNAs who assist with activities of daily living, mobility, and phlebotomy.

Additional resources include a dedicated respiratory therapist available 24 / 7 and a hospitalist team.

Telemetry monitoring is conducted through a remote monitoring system.

Charting and documentation are managed through an electronic medical record system.

Floating may occur within the designated region and scope of practice, based on staffing needs.

The unit culture emphasizes professionalism and teamwork.

Travelers will work every other weekend and a majority of holidays.
