Junior Plant Operator

Full Time, Hourly, Non Exempt

Job Summary : Junior Plant Operator position consists of performing several job functions ranging from maintaining facility housekeeping to providing escort service for facility visitors. This position may require a rotating shift schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities : None

Essential Responsibilities :

Provides visitor access screening.
Provides escort service for facility visitor(s).
Provides housekeeping service to essential areas of the facility.
Performs routine visual inspections of the front fence line perimeter.
Routinely picks up, sorts, and delivers mail to and from the main office ensuring its sensitivity, security, and timely distribution.
Assists other Operators in monitoring process equipment and making necessary adjustments, as directed, to maintain process parameters as specified within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Performs analysis on select samples to maintain process and finished product specifications.
Maintains operation of filter presses by placing them on or offline for cleaning.
Participate in routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work area.
Loads waste materials into hoppers from filter presses.
Must be able to travel to office facilities to pick up mail.
Routinely ensures main office UPS, FEDEX, or courier packages are picked up from the office and are handed off to the appropriate entity for proper shipping.

Other Responsibilities :

Serves as a member of The Facility Security Staff.

Provides escort service for facility visitor(s).

Serves as a member of the facility’s safety committee and process / incident review team.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Required Skills / Abilities :

Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures.

Ability to acquire knowledge through follow notes and apply learned concepts.

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Maintain up to date with the trends and ability to operate a smart phone.

Basic technical skills and the ability to learn and operate various types of equipment used in a chemical and industrial processes.

Ability to troubleshoot basic operational issues and report to senior operators or supervisors.

Must have reliable transportation to / from work.

Must be able to pass a 10 panel controlled substance testing and random testing after that.

Must be able to pass a background investigation check and maintain in good standing order, as per TSA’s TWIC criteria.

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent, additional education is a plus.

1 year experience working in a manufacturing (chemical, industrial facility) preferred.

Practical exposure to industry practices, equipment; and safety protocols.

Physical Requirements :

Frequently climbs stairs and ladders.

Frequently bends, stands, and lifts up to 40lbs.

Must be able to work outdoors in different climate conditions.

Must be able to walk on secure elevated process platforms in excess of 15-foot heights.

Must be medically qualified, meaning the employee must submit to an annual physical which may include a drug screening.
