Job Summary
This position is essential in providing patient care as directed by physician orders and departmental policies. Work independently within various acute and critical care settings while collaborating with physicians and other staff to assess patient needs and recommend treatment plans. Candidates should be equipped to care for patients of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and geriatric patients.

Accountabilities
Supervisory / Management Responsibility
This role does not have management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Must be a graduate of an American Medical Association-approved Respiratory Therapy program or be eligible for state licensure in South Carolina, or be a senior student graduating within three months.
Required Certifications / Registrations / Licenses
Candidates must hold a South Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner license or be eligible for licensure, or be a senior student graduating within three months. BLS certification is required, and NBRC credentials must be maintained. Employees hired before June 2016 may hold a Certified Respiratory Therapist credential. Those hired from June 2016 onward must pass the Registered Therapist cut score on the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam and take the Clinical Simulation Exam within six months of graduation; failure to pass the clinical simulation exam during this period will result in termination from Prisma Health.
NRP and PALS certifications are required in the Children's Hospital before independent work in the NICU and PICU.
