Summary of Position :

The AutomationTechnician I performs technical and complex work under general supervision including designing, building, testing automation solutions focused in computer vision or robotics tasks. The position also assists in project handoff to field operations. 75% of time will be in office / automation lab environment. Limited travel to customer sites will be required.

Essential Functions :

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Works in automation lab environment, building and testing solutions for feasibility
  • Works in configuration environment optimizing performance of automation solutions
  • Works at customer site ensuring successful customer installation and commissioning of solution
  • Deliver onsite technical service and support for internal and external customers
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and optimizing Automation equipment
  • Keeps stakeholders (e.g. sales, customers, technical peers, management) informed of actions, and progress on technical product issues
  • Respond to customer inquiries via telephone, online networks, and email
  • Advise management on product development issues arising from product problems identified through customer service and product experiences
  • Tests and optimizes solutions / equipment in our lab and at the customer's site
  • Confirms that machinery and instruments function normally meeting or exceeding customer expectations
  • Trains customers on start-up, operation, and maintenance of various pieces of equipment
  • Provides onsite commissioning or installing of equipment Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, wiring , or software issues in the field.
  • Conduct system testing and validation both in-house and on-site.
  • Document system configurations, issues, and resolutions clearly and accurately.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory used for system assembly and service.

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, automation configuration software.

    Physical Demands :

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee in this position frequently communicates with other co-workers / clients who have inquiries about the various projects and other needs. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Constantly operate a computer and automation equipment such as cameras, edge compute devices, sensors, controllers, motion control systems, robotics, framing. Frequently moves boxes with equipment weighing up to 25lbs across the building and / or to other offsite buildings for various project needs.

    Required Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor Degree Preffered
  • 1-3 years experience
  • Qualifications :

  • Associate Degree preferred or 1-3 years of related work experience
  • 1-3 years of combination Hardware / Automation experience supporting both proprietary and standard applications
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot hardware, wiring and software problems
  • Travels to customer locations as necessary to provide service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attends regular ongoing education as scheduled by the employer or manufacturer of equipment
  • Experience with automation equipment, even if limited, including barcode readers, machine vision, control systems, robots is a plus.
