Academy of International Studies is seeking a Science Depatment Team Leader
- Plans, coordinates, and facilitates curriculum team meetings, including establishing agenda & recording meeting minutes; agenda and minutes should be shared with administration.
- Collaborates with other teachers to ensure : A balanced and rigorous instructional program for all students The integration of interdisciplinary connections in thinking and academic skills Quality and relevant professional development for department members
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to :
Serves as a department liaison between department and administrator, and collaborates with administrators and colleagues on department, grade level, and instructional issues.Provides strategies and implements programs / practices for improving student achievement, classroom organization and management, and overall school climate.Participates in the school leadership team in planning a school-wide instructional and assessment program that provides consistency, continuity, and varied approaches to curriculum implementation appropriate for the strengths and needs of students.Monitors and analyzes individual student and grade level data for instructional implications and student engagement.Participates in the design, implementation, and monitoring of the local school improvement plan with curriculum level teams.Works with Administration and Department members to establish a department-wide Student Learning Objective (SLO), aligned to School Improvement Plan, individual data results, and Content Area Standards.Manages instructional supplies for the department.One work day during August, before the start of school, with Administration to plan for the upcoming year.Performs other leadership duties as assigned by the building administrator.STIPEND
Qualifications and key attributes :
Minimum of three years teaching experience preferredDemonstrable evidence of significant student achievement resultsKnowledge of team planning, cooperative learning, and / or interdisciplinary team teaching requiredDemonstrable expertise in content area pedagogyExperience in a relevant leadership role desirableWorking knowledge of data analysis principles, and of technologies used in instruction and assessment, and behavior modification.Ability to work effectively with administration, teachers, parents, and students.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
