Salary of $70 - $85K depending on competency, experience, qualifications and skills.

The Assistant Quality Assurance & Sanitation Manager works with the Quality & Sanitation Manger in the development, maintenance and supervision of daily product quality testing and monitoring of facility sanitation to ensure proper, safe and exceptional execution of daily tasks. (S)he works with both laboratory and sanitation technicians to ensure compliance with established food safety and quality requirements and procedures. (S)he prepares and distributes daily quality and sanitation reports and report deviations as required.

Essential Duties :

  • Supervise, train and develop quality assurance technicians in the monitoring and conducting of both raw material and finished product quality testing to ensure food safety and product quality and composition specifications are met.
  • Work with site Quality & Sanitation Manager in the development and enhancement of current product quality testing program and methods.
  • Delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements, and operational procedures within program
  • Review technical issues and procedures and recommend solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Review and maintain plant environmental sanitation, pest control, and pathogen monitoring programs.
  • Verify all lab safety protocols are in place and being followed and conduct safety training and JSA development as needed.
  • Review finished product compliance to specification and control non-conforming product. (Processing, Filling, Cold Storage)
  • Review GMP / Work Rules and ensure full enforcement of all policies. Verify plant supervisors have full understanding of requirements.
  • Review product testing and sampling results to ensure protocols are effective in ensuring food safety and product specifications are met.
  • Work with plant operations on process improvement initiatives as required.
  • Lead internal plant auditing program and provide reporting to department managers
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 4+ years of related dairy or food manufacturing experience with 1+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience with Grade A Dairy products, milk antibiotic testing, microbiological plating, FT-120, CEM (Smart-Trac)
  • Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, weekends and holidays.
