Summary

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight to Deaconess Gibson Hospital (DGH). This role focuses on improving community health through effective administrative management, strategic planning, and fostering a culture of excellence in patient care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

Establishes and administers effective hospital operations within established policies and procedures.

Engages with DGH board of directors and medical staff through effective communication and leadership.

Develops and coordinates an ancillary services organization plan, allocating staff to support the plan's execution.

Presides over staff meetings and special committees to provide leadership and coordinate activities.

Delegates authority and responsibility across various hospital services.

Implements information and support systems to enhance operational efficiency.

Recruits and maintains a diverse and competent staff, promoting professional growth and development.

Manages internal controls to protect and conserve hospital resources.

Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Reviews and evaluates policies, procedures, and service programs.

Directs the implementation of new programs and services to achieve hospital objectives.

Coordinates and integrates all health system programs to meet community needs.

• Participates in state and national healthcare organizations to guide DGH services.

Competencies :

Job Requirements & Qualifications :

Master's Degree (MHA, MBA, MSN) or related field required. Minimum five (5) years' experience in healthcare administration or as a director in a medium to large health system with preference in the Critical Access Hospital setting.

Experience must include extensive operations responsibility, strategic planning, and facilities management, with demonstrated ability to relate well to all external and internal customers. In addition, experience in physician relations, creating joint ventures, negotiating, and team- building are required.
