Head Housekeeper

Bronx Psychiatric Center, located in the Bronx, NY, is seeking a Head Housekeeper to oversee cleaning and housekeeping activities. The position is full-time and permanent with a salary range from $59,787 to $72,429 annually. The workweek is 40 hours from 6 AM to 6 PM, with no flextime, mandatory overtime, compressed workweek, or telecommuting options. The position is non-competitive with a travel percentage of 0%.

As a Head Housekeeper, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling staff assignments, inspecting buildings for compliance with cleaning programs, and investigating complaints regarding unsatisfactory cleaning performance.

Minimum qualifications include four years of housekeeping work experience in a fully functioning housekeeping department in a health care or institutional setting, with one year of administrative or supervisory experience. Alternatively, candidates may possess an Executive Housekeepers Certificate issued by the International Housekeepers Association, Inc., along with two years of housekeeping work experience in a health care or institutional setting, with one year of administrative or supervisory experience.

Additionally, candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Head Housekeeper eligible list. Candidates within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b / 55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Head Housekeeper at Bronx Psychiatric Center. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position's minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.

The promotion field for the Head Housekeeper position consists of candidates who have one year of permanent service as a Supervising Housekeeper.
