Summary :
Under direct supervision the Anesthesia Technician will be responsible for performing various anesthesia specialized treatment procedures that will significantly affect the accuracy and reliability of further processes associated with the anesthetic course of the patient across the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. The position will support the Anesthesia Department.
Responsibilities :
Provides assistance to Anesthesiologists / CRNA's during patient induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia.
Provides diagnostic and treatment services during regular recurring critical care situations : set up, check, inspect, maintain and calibrate a variety of anesthesia equipment.
Applies principles of infection control and safety, including proper handling, cleaning and sterilizing and / or disposal of equipment / supplies used in regular and contaminated cases.
Sets up sterile equipment such as intravenous, central venous, arterial, and pulmonary artery catheters using sterile technique.
Responsible for stocking and maintaining supplies utilized by the Anesthesia department including organizing and maintaining stock levels in the Anesthesia workroom, working closely with the supply department and maintaining par levels, and adding and deleting supplies. Participate in the preparation of various supplies such as arterial lines and central line kits.
Responsible for maintaining the Anesthesia department's equipment including operations, troubleshooting, cleaning, basic maintenance, calibrations, testing, recording of inspections, and point of care testing.
Assist in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) as needed. Ensures workroom areas are clean and orderly before, during and after each shift.
Ensures that equipment, supplies and medication are available at each operating room location.
Assists with procuring and return of monitoring equipment used during the transport of patients from the operating room to ICU's or other locations.
Utilizes proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self or others.
Works closely with others in collaborative manner to prepare the patient for surgery.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :
Knowledge of the English language including the rules of composition and grammar.
Knowledge of applicable federal / state laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and other operational guidelines and directives.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
Anesthesia Technician I
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and documenting completion of a course in medical terminology.
Anesthesia Technician II
Associate's Degree from an accredited college or suitable combination of education and experience.
Anesthesia Technician III
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or suitable combination of education and experience. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Anesthesia Technician I
Two (2) years of supply experience in acute care setting.
Anesthesia Technician II
Non-supervisory - Four (4) years of responsible Anesthesia Technician or Technologist experience.
Anesthesia Technician III
Non-supervisory - Eight (8) years of responsible Anesthesia Technician or Technologist experience.
