Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Summary
We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs of heavy equipment in a field environment. You will travel to various locations and make repairs to engines, powertrains, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and various other mechanical systems on equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, off highway trucks, forklifts, and more.
Applicants should be experienced in all aspects of heavy equipment repair so they can successfully identify, diagnose and repair defects.
You must be able to use a pc and or tablet to run diagnostic tests and enter job information.
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving to the equipment location.
- Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
- Inspecting trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance
- Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
- Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
- Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
- Consult with other mechanics
- Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs
- Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades, and hammers
- Complete shop paperwork
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED certificatePost-secondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus)5+ years of experience with diesel / heavy equipment repairWelding experience (a plus)Manual dexterityAbility to work alone with minimal supervisionValid Texas driver's license and a clean driving recordWill require a post pre-employment physical and drug screen
