ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Electrician Technician plays a critical role in supporting the electrical and operational needs of equipment within our facility. This position requires a hands-on, solution-oriented individual who works closely with department leads and supervisors to meet daily production goals while ensuring equipment functionality and safety. This role also involves mentoring fellow maintenance staff and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Performs work in accordance with all quality systems requirements included in SQF 2000, including Food Safety, Food Defense, HACCP, and GMPs, as well as all corporate quality and food safety programs.
  • Maintains good attendance to ensure production equipment remains operational and does not disrupt production schedules.
  • Works safely at all times and in compliance with company safety program requirements.
  • Wears all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for repairs and ensures compliance with building and safety codes.
  • Performs electrical work involving 480V systems, DC circuits, and PLCs (programmable logic controllers).
  • Tests and troubleshoots electrical systems and circuit continuity using tools such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety.
  • Plans, builds, and installs motor control panel stations.
  • Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepares sketches or uses blueprints to determine wiring and equipment locations, ensuring conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Installs, changes, and maintains starters, breakers, and related electrical components.
  • Places conduit (pipes or tubing) in designated areas, including partitions or walls, and pulls insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits.
  • Performs physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches for conduit and lifting or moving heavy equipment up to 80 pounds.
  • Works collaboratively as part of a team and performs mechanical maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Advises management when continued equipment operation poses a potential hazard.
  • Supports Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts, including repair / replacement of mechanical components like bearings, bushings, shafts, gearboxes, and lubrication systems.
  • Troubleshoots issues using electrical schematics and develops corrective measures to prevent future equipment failure.
  • Assists in troubleshooting control systems and contributes to the development of process improvements.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices and ensures the work area is clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Participates in required company training and safety programs, including Lockout / Tagout, Ammonia Safety, Confined Space, and others.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of electrical and / or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment OR certification from a technical / trade school.
  • Strong knowledge of :
  • Electrical codes and safety standards
  • NFPA 70E
  • GMP, Food Safety, and plant-specific safety protocols
  • Completion of relevant safety training programs including Lockout / Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Ammonia Safety, Hot Works, Hazmat, and PIT operation.
  • Familiarity with RMP / PSM procedures, site evacuation plans, and emergency response protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and a strong team player.
  • Must maintain punctual and regular attendance.
  • LOCATION

  • This position will work out of our Alluvial location.
  • This position will work our 3rd shift, hours are 6 : 00 PM - 2 : 30 AM.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to :

  • Work in an environment where there can be medium to loud noise and in cold temperatures.
  • Stand and walk, feel, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally requested to sit and talk or hear.
  • A fast-paced environment that requires high attention to details and minimal down time.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work flexible / varying schedules to support the team, customers, and deadlines.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and ability to see all colors.
  • Wear appropriate personal protection equipment and adhere to dress code as outlined for working in a food manufacturing facility.
