Freight Quality Inspector
The Freight Quality Inspector inspects shipments for proper packaging, quality, classification and weight per the Roadrunner rules tariff, pricing agreements, and the NMFC. This role also inspects load quality, equipment, and facility condition.
Critical Job Functions :
- Inspect shipments for additional revenue opportunities.
- Enter changes to shipments based on physical inspection or dimensioner inspections.
- Inspect loaded shipments for quality control items.
- Inspect Weights & Inspections equipment, dock equipment and facility condition.
- Work with Operations team on shipment and load quality.
- Work with terminal management and sales by giving feedback on accounts.
- Train and educate terminal employees on proper reweigh procedures.
- Ensure the safety of our customer shipments, our equipment, and our facilities.
- Ensure accuracy of inspections for proper classification, weight, density, and rules tariff application.
- Participate in service center staff meetings and daily Dock pre-shift meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements :
High School diploma or GEDTwo to three years of related experienceAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsProficient personal computer skillsPreferred knowledge of AS / 400, industry-based software, and Microsoft WindowsAbility to apply advanced mathematical conceptsHigh degree of responsibility for working with restricted informationPhysical Demands and Work Environment :
Physical Demands : Moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach / handle items, work with the fingers, and talk and hear others in conversations via the phone or in person. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb or balance and lift objects up to 50 lbs.Work Environment : The noise level is moderate to high based on general conversation tones, ringing phones and laser printer operation. Splits work time between well-lighted, heated and / or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation and dock setting. Occasional work near moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. Works mostly night / overnight shifts.Compensation : $25.00 per hour
