Position Overview - LPN : The nurse participates in assuring the implementation of the established health care plan(s) for a specified number of clients as delegated and supervised by the RN.# Implementation is limited to the care of clients whose health status would be expected to change only over a period of days and weeks, rather than minutes and hours.# The nurse functions the #nurse-in-charge# role may legally delegate nursing care activities to another practical nurse or to unlicensed assistive personnel (nurse aides) only when all of the following criteria are met : a) qualifications of personnel to whom nursing activities may be delegated have been validated by the RN; b) a RN is continuously available for notification of significant changes in client status, consultation regarding further evaluation and care planning decisions and on-going supervision of all personnel implementing nursing care; c) the nurse participates in on-going observations of clients and evaluation of clients# responses to nursing actions; d) the nurse maintains accountability for self and by all other personnel to whom such care is delegated; e) supervision by the nurse is limited to the validation that tasks have been performed as delegated and according to established standards of care within the practice setting.
