Job Description
The Computer Consultant II is the single point of contact for the assigned department for all IT needs, requests, purchase recommendations, and support covering desktop hardware and software, remote access solutions, and tablets and / or smartphones. This position is critical to the ongoing operations responsible for providing elevated computer and application support. Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience supporting Windows XP and / or Vista.
Skills and Knowledge
Understanding of networking, IT hardware, Windows 11 deployment, software and how it interacts with the operating system, printer and printing capabilities, cell technologies as they pertain supporting client devices, and mobile computing platformsPlease note a valid Driver’s License and a vehicle are required for this position. Responsibilities
Use computing concepts, documented procedures, and knowledge of SU’s systems to address a wide variety of IT support requests, including but not limited to general hardware and software break / fix and hardware and software installation.Effectively prioritize incoming support tickets, coordinate and schedule with users, and provide cross-unit support as requested by supervisor.Manage hardware inventory of assigned area, plan upgrade lifecycle, and work with units to replace aging equipment as necessary.Maintain a familiarity with department’s specific settings, applications, and hardware configurations.Interface with vendors and other 3rd parties to provide technical support and ensure systems are adhering to University policy.Work with assigned department directors to ensure business goals are aligned with technical processes.Identify opportunities to improve business processes through technical means.Physical Requirements
Standing 15% of the shift. Sitting 65% of the shift. Walking 15% of shift. Frequent kneeling and climbing stairs.Able to lift 35 pounds waist high, 20 pounds shoulder high, 15 pounds above head.Must be able to carry weight 15ft, with pushing, pulling and holding weight.Wrist and finger dexterity sufficient to use and operate a variety of hand tools and manipulate small objects.Ability to see, hear / listen, touch and speak is essential to work.Work requires reading, writing, analyzing data, problem solving, and conducting research on a daily basis.Work environment involves 80% indoor and 20% outdoor.Tools / Equipment Not Applicable
