Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PCU / Oncology float pool position in California requiring an active CA RN license and chemo certification.
Responsibilities
Work in the PCU / Oncology float pool covering hospital units across multiple locationsFloat to four locations, including potential to cover Emergency Department Inpatient Overflow (EDIP)Care provided to general medicine, surgical, neuro, oncology, cardiac, and orthopedic patientsPatient ratios : IMU 1 : 3, Tele 1 : 4, Med / Surg 1 : 5Night shift position with 3x12 hour shifts (19 : 00–07 : 00)Weekly schedule provided two weeks in advance; no blocked or self-schedulingAssignment length is 13 weeksUses Epic and Pyxis for documentation; Cerner charting experience requiredFloating required to all PCU units and down to Med / Surg based on censusMay float to various units and locations as needed based on staffing demandsFirst-time travelers are accepted for this assignmentNo time off allowed within the first two weeks of the assignmentReturn travelers must have been gone for at least one year to be eligibleLocal candidates are accepted at the same rateNo self-scheduling or blocked scheduling permittedCandidates will receive notification about their assigned facility two hours before their shiftHoliday and weekend coverage may be part of the required scheduleRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationCurrent certifications in BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and chemo certification requiredMinimum 2 years of PCU experience and experience with IV starts, telemetry, phlebotomy, and A-line proceduresCerner charting experience requiredMust pass EKG exam (up to 3 attempts)At least one year of recent acute care experience with one year's specialty experience in the past two yearsMust have at least one supervisory or director reference from the past year in the relevant specialtyTemporary license status must be clearly indicated if applicableBenefits
