SGL is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Licensed Customs Broker to join our dynamic Brokerage team. In this role, the successful candidate will lead the brokerage department, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, managing seamless goods clearance, and overseeing all customs entry operations. Their expertise and dedication to exceptional customer service will play a vital role in delivering top-quality solutions to our clients. This position requires strong attention to detail and a commitment to operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
This is a direct hire, full time, on-site position based in Hawthorne, CA.

Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the LAX brokerage department, providing leadership and guidance to the current team of two entry writers, while serving as a role model and setting a standard of excellence.
- Supervise and manage customs clearance processes for import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with all federal regulations (CBP, FDA, USDA, etc.).
- Accurately classify goods using the tariff coding system.
- Coordinate with customs authorities, freight forwarders, carriers, and clients to resolve any shipment issues or delays.
- Request, review, and validate all required import documentation, including Power of Attorney (POA) and shipping records.
- Investigate and resolve customs-related issues, including audits, penalties, or entry discrepancies.
- Collaborate on the development of innovative products and services to enhance client offerings and internal processes.
- Able to manage high volumes of transactions while maintaining accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all customs transactions in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with internal departments such as operations, sales, and customer service to streamline customs brokerage services.
- Stay updated on changes to import / export laws and proactively educate colleagues and clients on these updates.
Qualifications :
Must hold a valid U.S. Customs Broker License.Minimum of 3-5 years in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or a related logistics role.Proven expertise in classifying products, including fabrics.Comprehensive understanding of U.S. customs regulations, HTS classification, and import / export compliance.Knowledge of FDA, USDA regulations, and experience with T&E, IT, and Duty Drawback.Proficiency in compliance management and regulatory documentation.Experience with customs procedures and client interactions.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.Excellent communication and customer service orientationProblem-solving attitude.Competitive salary : $90,000 - $95,000 per year.
