Financial Analyst I - Clinical Trials Unit

Job Description

The Financial Analyst I gathers financial information, analyzes that information and prepares reports, so that Administrators and other departmental leadership can make recommendations. These reports provide internal control over fiscal activity on operating, restricted fund and endowment accounts and other financial activities within the department.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience

3 years of experience in Finance

Non-Bargaining Unit, 820 - Clinical Trials Unit - ISM, Icahn School of Medicine

Responsibilities

Reconcile accruals, payments, invoices, and other financial activity for clinical trial accounts through detailed analysis and proper documentation.

Establish and maintain frequent communication with sponsors, investigators, research teams or research administrators regarding account status and issues.

Identify and address collection issues by tracking receipt of payments and analyzing aging and uncollectible account receivable balances.

Ensure the accuracy of financial data : interpreting and analyzing account activity, auditing financial issues, and working with research teams, and sponsors to resolve issues.

Create and update accounts within the accounting system.

Interpret contract and budget language to ensure it aligns with inform consent.

Respond to inquiries in a timely manner and providing feedback and solutions to financial issues.

Analyze and present on financial activity.

Maintain current knowledge of institutional policies as it relates to industry-sponsored clinical trials.

Ensure closeout processes are performed through thorough review of contract, budget, accruals, and payments.

Assist management in identifying opportunities to improve processes : providing input for streamlining processes to facilitate collecting and analyzing data. Recommending improvements to current reconciliation process.

Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned / requested.

Compensation Statement

Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64526.72 - $84000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses / incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
