Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of the hotel’s building, grounds, equipment, and mechanical / electrical systems. This role ensures that all equipment is kept in proper working condition with minimal downtime by performing daily maintenance tasks and responding promptly to work orders.
This position is scheduled for the 3 : 00 PM – 11 : 00 PM shift and requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays as business needs demand.
Essential Job Functions
Perform routine troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems throughout the hotel.
Complete preventive maintenance assignments on schedule (e.g., “room care” program).
Service and maintain the hotel’s pool, including chemical balancing, filter cleaning, and record-keeping.
Maintain the building exterior and property grounds (e.g., painting, lawn care, minor repairs, snow removal).
Respond to maintenance work orders from all hotel departments in a timely manner.
Adhere to company policies, safety rules, and emergency procedures.
Properly use and maintain protective equipment and tools.
Immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents, or property damage to a supervisor.
Assist other engineering and maintenance team members as needed.
Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
General knowledge of multiple maintenance trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, roofing, and landscaping.
Ability to diagnose and repair routine mechanical and electrical issues in hotel systems and equipment.
Proficiency with basic hand tools, power tools, and maintenance materials.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions clearly.
Strong customer service and communication skills when interacting with guests and staff.
Ability to remain flexible, efficient, and positive in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; additional technical training a plus.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders or stairs for the duration of the shift.
Comfortable working in hot, cold, wet, or confined spaces.
Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to pounds.
Visual and hearing ability to identify and respond to emergency situations.
Frequent twisting, reaching, bending, and handling of tools and equipment.
