Release Engineer
The Release Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive release management strategy for multiple generations of the product. This role involves collaborating closely with development, testing, operations, product teams, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless workflow and communication throughout the release process.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate release planning meetings and provide clear updates on release status, risks, and dependencies.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure consistent and reliable software release deployment across different environments.
- Create and maintain detailed release documentation, including release notes and deployment plans.
- Generate reports on release progress and performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Proactively identify and address potential risks throughout the release cycle and establish contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
- Act as the single point of accountability for the entire release process, owning both successes and failures.
- Oversee manual testing on hardware and handle releases and updates on various product generations.
- Manage release tagging, run CI / CD pipelines, and package releases for deployment.
- Address issues related to third-party API changes and diverse hardware region-specific problems.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience working as a release manager or equivalent role.Experience designing, implementing, and enforcing release processes, including defining release cadences and managing emergency / hotfix releases.Ability to identify potential risks in a release, create mitigation plans, and define clear go / no-go criteria.Experience developing and testing rollback procedures for both cloud and embedded targets.Expert-level CLI of Unix-like environments (Linux, macOS).Deep, practical expertise in Git, including complex branching strategies, release tagging, and conflict resolution.Proven experience managing software releases within a large-scale monorepo.Solid understanding of GitOps principles.Professional proficiency with the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence).Strong communication skills at the engineering and management level.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Hands-on experience with hermetic and reproducible builds.Basic scripting skills in Bash and Python to support troubleshooting of release automation scripts and pipelines.Work Environment
The role might require late nights in worst-case scenarios. Initially, the team will be in the office 3 days a week, transitioning to a hybrid model once up to speed. Expect onsite presence almost every day.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $64.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
