Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Key Responsibilities :
Set up and operate press brake machines to process sheet metal parts per engineering drawings and work instructions
Select appropriate tooling and dies based on material type and thickness
Interpret blueprints, bend allowances, and bend sequencing
Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Accurately record production data and labor transactions using shop floor software
Identify and correct quality issues at the source before moving to the next operation
Collaborate with team members, engineering, and quality departments to resolve issues
Crosstrain in other work centers as needed to support production goals
Minimum Requirements :
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2+ years of experience operating a press brake in a manufacturing environment
Proficient in reading and interpreting sheet metal drawings and blueprints
Fluent in written and spoken English
Above-average math skills, including geometry and basic trigonometry
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as outlined in the Functional Job Description
Comfortable using computers and learning manufacturing software
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
Self-managed, dependable, and a team player
Willingness to work overtime and travel occasionally if required
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience operating CNC-controlled press brakes
Familiarity with Bystronic press brake systems
Certification in Press Brake Operation (e.g., FMA or equivalent)
Experience working with tight tolerances and high-mix, low-volume production
Forklift certification or experience with material handling equipment
Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments
Ability to train or mentor junior operators
