Corporate Controller
The Corporate Controller is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting across Advantage Capital's corporate entities. This role leads the firm's accounting operationsincluding general ledger management, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit coordinationand partners closely with the Fund Controller(s), Fund Managers, FP&A, and Treasury to ensure consistent, compliant, and insightful financial information across the company. The Corporate Controller serves as the firm's principal accounting officer for GAAP compliance, audit readiness, and policy implementation, all of which are essential for compliance with lenders, investors, partners, and internal stakeholders. The reliability, precision, and transparency of these financial statements are of the utmost importance.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, strong audit experience, and the ability to navigate complex, multi-tiered ownership structures. They understand how details at the transaction or entity level impact related entities and roll up through interconnected structures, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all reporting relationships.
This is a senior leadership role within the Accounting team. The position reports directly to Vice President of Finance but works closely with the CFO and other Accounting leadership as part of a small, highly collaborative leadership team, providing input and support across all areas of Accounting.
Quarterly Financial Reporting
Oversee all corporate accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, and intercompany transactions.
Manage the quarter-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements that meet the requirements of lenders, investors, partners, and internal teams.
Serve as a front-line liaison between Accounting and other business units, maintaining clear communication and alignment around investment funding activity and related reporting.
Maintain the integrity and completeness of supporting documentation, ensuring readiness for audit or review at all times.
Partner with the CFO, VP of Finance, and FP&A team to support corporate and Board reporting, contributing accounting insight and ensuring alignment, accuracy, and clear communication of key financial results.
Technical Accounting & Audit
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors; coordinate quarterly review and annual audit activities to ensure timely, accurate completion.
Read and interpret operating agreements, loan agreements, and partnership agreements, and translate those requirements into accounting and reporting outcomes that accurately reflect the terms of each agreement.
Ensure compliance with loan covenants and other financial reporting obligations, proactively monitoring requirements and escalating issues as needed.
Research, document, and implement accounting guidance for complex or non-routine transactions.
Maintain and strengthen internal control policies, procedures, and documentation in accordance with best practices and regulatory standards.
Monitor and implement new accounting standards as applicable.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 10+ accounting professionals with varying levels of experience ensuring strong collaboration, cross-training, and clear documentation of processes.
Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth by encouraging innovation, strengthening capabilities, and creating opportunities that challenge team members to reach their full potential.
Balance hands-on involvement with effective delegation and oversight, providing coaching and guidance that builds confidence and capability.
Work collaboratively across the Accounting team, other Advantage teams, auditors, and external partners serving as a key bridge between technical accounting and business operations - to ensure accuracy, alignment, and transparency in financial reporting and ancillary compliance reporting.
Process Improvement & Systems
Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, reporting tools, and data integrity processes.
Identify and implement automation opportunities and workflow improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Play an active role in the upcoming ERP implementation, partnering with the project lead and internal teams to ensure accounting and reporting requirements are met.
Support other system integrations, upgrades, and technology-driven initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
812 years of progressive accounting experience, with deep exposure to financial reporting, audits, and multi-entity structures.
Public accounting or audit background strongly preferred.
Strong command of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply it across complex ownership and investment structures.
Proven success leading and developing accounting teams within fast-paced, dynamic organizations.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply provisions of operating, loan, and partnership agreements to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and analytical problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency; experience with ERP platforms (e.g., Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct, or similar).

Base salary range : $175,000$200,000 plus performance based bonus targeted around 10% of base salary. Offers may vary depending on candidate experience, location and other factors.
