Recreational Therapy Position At Corewell Health

The Rehabilitation & Nursing Center Cedar was designed with the word "home" in mind. The home is more spacious than the previous 52-year-old Fuller Street facility and boasts many new amenities, including four spacious interior courtyards; a new dining room; on-site dialysis den; art room, private and semiprivate rooms with their own window, restroom and shower; modern furnishings; and new technology, to make these community members feel at home.

The responsibilities of this position include planning, implementing / conducting and evaluating appropriate activity opportunities for patients. This role supports the health care team in promoting therapeutic services and / or programs. This role is also involved in conducting / implementing community and hospital based programs or special events as designated.

Required :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • LIC-Driver's License - State of Michigan 60 days required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Continuing Care 60 Days Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Continuing Care 60 Days

Preferred :

  • Associate's Degree child life, child development, child psychology, early childhood education, recreational therapy or related degree
  • 1 year of relevant experience working with the appropriate population served (geriatric, TBI, children, teenagers, or volunteers) and in the appropriate setting (long term care, children's hospital) - Based on Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate
  • 1 year of relevant experience program planning and development
  • Familiarity with music, crafts, exercise and group leadership- Based on Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate
  • CRT-Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Certified (CTRS) - NCTRC National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification Upon Hire preferred
