Mortgage Loan Officer

Proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and promotes RFCU mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals. In this on-going sales role, continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities (i.e. Real Estate professionals, Builders, professional and personal contacts and is enhanced by regular participation in business related development opportunities). Responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other business channels. Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product / pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Attracts new mortgage loan applications by developing relationships within the community, specifically with the real estate community; making sales calls to prospective customers.
• Assesses member's needs and concerns; provides consultative services to members regarding mortgage products and services.
• Originates mortgage applications. Sets customer expectations and educates them on the entire mortgage origination process.
• Works with mortgage processors to keep the member and all related parties advised of the status of the application. Coordinates with closing area to facilitate a prompt and accurate loan closing.
• Identifies opportunities to increase loan origination volume in order to achieve defined loan growth objectives.
• Assists with inbound and outbound mortgage call inquiries. Participates in seminars / webinars and events to educate members and build with real estate community.
• Ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies.
• Handles member complaints through phone calls, correspondence and follow-up; utilizes knowledge of Credit Union products and services to provide solutions to members concerns and problems; follows through to ensure member satisfaction.
• Interacts with other departments and vendors to research and resolve problems and provide requested information.
• Meet members at assigned branches to take loan application as requested.

Education Requirements

High School or GED - Required

Must be able to obtain National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration and / or meet Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) guidelines for position - Required

Experience Requirement

2 Years - Mortgage Lending - Required
