Location : In-Person, 40 hours a week at 5050 Madison Road, Cincinnati, OH 45227

About the Role

The Behavioral Health Insurance Eligibility & Billing Specialist ensures clients have the financial resources needed to access and sustain behavioral health services. This role verifies insurance eligibility, resolves financial barriers, and assists families with financial assistance programs. In addition to supporting clients, the Specialist maintains accurate billing records, processes payments, and collaborates with internal teams to ensure continuity of care.

What You’ll Do

Direct Service

Serve as the primary contact for clients and families regarding insurance, billing, and financial assistance.

Notify clients of lapses in coverage, assist with authorizations, and help secure financial support programs.

Provide financial counseling and connect families to community resources to ensure continuity of care.

Fiscal

Collect co-pays, deductibles, and patient liability, accurately recording payments in the billing system.

Monitor and meet productivity, financial, and operational benchmarks while minimizing service disruptions.

Apply knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payer regulations to resolve denials and ensure reimbursement.

Administration & Quality Assurance

Verify insurance coverage, maintain accurate billing records, and ensure claims are submitted correctly.

Prepare and send correspondence regarding coverage, billing, and financial assistance.

Run reports and document information in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.

Collaboration

Partner with Finance, Intake, and program teams to prevent financial barriers from disrupting services.

Build relationships with external agencies and payers to coordinate benefits and clarify coverage.

Support timely processing of behavioral health claims across all payer types.

What You’ll Bring

Education : Associate degree in healthcare administration, medical billing, accounting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience : Familiarity with public and private health insurance plans, including Medicaid and commercial payers.

Skills :

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Experience with EHR systems (Credible preferred).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Compensation and Benefits :

20-$25 / hr

Work Environment

Exposed to a combination of office, school, and behavioral health treatment environments. Regular interaction with children and adolescents experiencing behavioral and emotional challenges is expected.
