Landscape Maintenance Specialist

Objective : Performs the tasks necessary to provide the best landscape maintenance service.

Typical Working Conditions : Many of the job responsibilities will be conducted in exterior areas of the operation. Activities will be carried out in year-round weather conditions. Work will be conducted on stage and back stage environments, including smoking areas. Work hours will fluctuate depending on projects, daily tasks and emergency situations.

Essential Functions :

• Always be NICE to fellow staff and players; find every opportunity to offer a friendly smile, wave and greeting
• Cuts and maintains lawns
• Plants and maintains plants, flowers, trees and shrubs
• Applies pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals
• Cleans and maintains tools and equipment
• Uses a variety of landscape tools, both hand and powered, as directed
• Understands and complies with federal, state and local regulations
• Understands and complies with Facilities Department and Casino policies and procedures
• Participate in related training programs provided by the organization

Minimum Qualifications : Ability to communicate with in English with fellow staff and guest. Ability to follow directions. Ability to maintain each area of responsibility at a premium "5-Star Level". Ability to follow a set routine, in an individual area. Ability to use 36" walk-behind mower, 21" self-propelled mower, line trimmer, blower and all hand-held tools. Ability to identify 25 landscape plants, 5 common weeds and 5 pests. Understands fertilizer types and application. Must have knowledge of pruning techniques for shrub plants and turf. Able to maintain a weed and gopher eradication program. Ability to read product information and safety labels. Friendly and courteous personality. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Able to work 3 hours without going to the restroom.

Required Education : High School diploma or GED desired

Required Experience : Minimum 2 years experience in the field or in a related area.
