JOB OVERVIEW :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to join our team in Wyoming, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for the procurement of mechanical, electrical, and industrial components necessary for the design and build of custom automation systems. Working closely with engineering, project management, and assembly teams, you will ensure materials are sourced cost-effectively and delivered on time to meet project requirements and promised ship dates. This role requires strong analytical and negotiation skills along with a solid understanding of purchasing practices and supply chain management.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

  • 5-7 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting; experience in automation or machine building is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • CPP (Certified Purchasing Professional) certification (required)

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Familiarity with industrial automation components and mechanical / electrical parts.
  • Experience with E2 & Dynamics 365 ERP systems and Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently
  • RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Procure parts, components, and services for automation machinery, including mechanical and electrical items.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand project schedules and material needs.
  • Source suppliers, solicit quotes, and negotiate favorable pricing and terms.
  • Issue purchase orders and track status to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Resolve discrepancies, manage returns, and expedite orders when needed.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of purchasing activity within ERP systems.
  • Support cost reduction efforts and process improvements related to procurement.
  • Coordinate with accounting to ensure invoices align with purchase orders.
  • Maintain ISO documentation and compliance for the corporate purchasing department
  • Prepare and submit timely reports as required
  • Support executive management with additional procurement-related duties as needed
