Certified Playground Safety Inspector

Salary : $22.79 Per Hour

Department : Parks and Recreation / Parks

Location : John Prince Park, 2700 6th Avenue S., Lake Worth

Hours : 7 : 00 A.M. to 3 : 30 P.M., Monday - Friday; may be required to work weekends and holidays.

Other : Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Respiratory screen / chest x-ray and hearing loss test required for selected candidate.

Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, inspection, and installation of playground structures, facilities, and related equipment to ensure conformance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) playground standards, and manufacturers recommendations. Performs maintenance, repairs, installations, and documents safety inspections on all new and existing playground play structures and related amenities. Works under the supervision of a Trades Crew Chief or administrative supervisor. Work is reviewed through inspections of completed projects or assignments.

Qualifications :

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of experience in the inspection, repair, and installation of commercial-grade play structures.

Necessary Special Requirement : Must obtain a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Certification from the National Playground Safety Institute (NPSI) within six (6) months of hire. Certification must be maintained following National Parks and Recreation Association (NRPA) standards.

Preference for : Experience using power / hand tools / equipment used in the building and facilities maintenance (must specify on application); current CPSI Certification; formal training in building maintenance or construction trades.
