The Department of Economic Security, Division of Technology Services (DTS), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Information Technology (IT) team as a Senior Systems Administrator. This role is part of a team of highly skilled and technology-driven professionals. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the daily operations, maintenance, governance, and customer service of all Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems. Key duties include participating in persona definition processes, providing industry best practice guidance to leadership, and contributing to projects that expand automation opportunities. Daily tasks involve issuing multi-factor authentication (MFA) tokens, configuring system access groups, accounts, workflows, and policies, as well as managing access control, user management, security, and troubleshooting. This position also requires participation in on-call, after-hours support as needed.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Job Duties :

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Serve as the technical expert for enterprise identity management systems, resolving complex issues and supporting service requests.

Support and maintain identity system configurations and RBAC rules to meet business needs and ensure compliance.

Participate in projects as a subject matter expert, providing recommendations based on best practices and technical knowledge.

Create and maintain standard procedures; review configuration changes for alignment with policies and standards.

Communicate technical information clearly to employees and contractors; analyze and improve policies and processes.

Monitor system usage, investigate incidents, and implement identity security measures to protect system integrity and availability.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) :

Knowledge of :

Various infrastructure technologies and in-house developed applications are utilized within the enterprise

Methodologies for assessing and resolving difficult or emotional customer situations

Understand and analyze customer feedback to improve service

Workflow methodologies : prioritization, design, and execution of goals and objectives

Selective Preference(s) :

The ideal candidate for this position will have :

Master's Degree or Bachelor’s degree plus 10 or more years of experience in systems administration

Proficiency with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Extensive experience with complex traffic analysis, identifying and characterizing incidents, generating incident reports, and investigating suspicious network activity.

Pre-Employment Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree plus 5 or more years of experience in systems administration (or equivalent experience)

Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1969.

Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement :

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
