The NC State Veterinary Hospital (VH), established in 1983, is one of the highest-rated veterinary academic medical centers in the country, serving communities throughout North Carolina as well as many other states. Essential Job Duties
The Omega Transitional Care Technician plays a vital role in supporting patients, clients, and clinicians within NC State's End of Life Care Service. This position provides compassionate and skilled technical support for in-hospital and in-home consultations, including patient assessments, treatments, and client education. The technician will assist veterinarians with examinations, pain management, mobility support, and palliative and hospice care, while helping clients navigate the emotional aspects of terminal illness and loss with empathy and professionalism.
In addition, the role provides secondary support to the Small Animal Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Service and contributes to teaching fourth-year veterinary students and clients about palliative medicine and hospice care techniques. Success in this position requires a calm, compassionate approach; excellent communication and teamwork skills; the ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and client service.
