Description : Title : Controller

Base Salary Range : $120,000 – 140,000 plus benefits

FTE : Full-time, Exempt

General Summary : Responsible for overseeing the accounting department and all financial accounting activities. The Controller will be responsible for budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting.

  • Oversees and manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, and bank reconciliation functions
  • Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs
  • Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available, such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits.
  • Oversee business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased with government funds (computers, etc.) assuring all are in accordance with federal regulations
  • Ensures accurate and timely, monthly, quarterly and year-end close
  • Works closely with CFO to monitor all activities in terms of figures and budget
  • Evaluates current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new process
  • Oversees regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the organization’s procedures
  • Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable personnel
  • Reviews and ensures accurate payroll transactions
  • Reviews, analyzes and reconciles third party checks
  • Assists CFO and Department leads to develop internal budgets, projections and forecasts that will have a long-term effect on the organization
  • Responsible for annual audit preparation
  • Assist with UDS, Medicare Cost Report, Code 18 reconciliation reports and others
  • Provides recommendations and implements processes according to accounting trends and track progress
  • Generates supporting documentation and schedules for month-end closing
  • Tracks and manages expenses per contracts, funds and programs

Qualifications and Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience
  • Thorough understanding of debits and credits, amortization, depreciation, bank and credit card reconciliations, account analysis, etc.
  • Experience & Abilities :

  • Must have minimum 5 years accounting experience in a paid position, utilizing all aspects of AP / AR / GL
  • Must be extremely well-versed in Excel
  • Must have knowledge of MIP Abila Accounting software
  • Knowledge of Payroll System preferred
  • Understanding General Ledger functions from day one
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with many distractions and changes in work focus.
  • Must be able to analyze complex report requirements and implement technical solutions.
  • Detail-oriented, problem-solver and able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be willing to learn and expand knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct oneself with professionalism in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
  • Follow up on assignments, show initiative, be self-motivated, and have a strong work ethic
  • Licensure and Certifications

  • C.P.A. designation preferred
