Title : R&D Strategic Sourcing Manager

Location : Greater Waltham Area, MA (Primarily Remote with Occasional Onsite Meetings)

Employment Type : Contract (through June 2026)

About the Role

We are supporting a leading biopharmaceutical organization seeking an R&D Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead category strategies, manage global supplier relationships, and support procurement activities across multiple R&D functions. This role partners closely with internal teams and drives measurable cost, quality, and process improvements across R&D sourcing operations.

Local candidates are strongly preferred due to occasional onsite meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong partnerships with R&D stakeholders to understand procurement needs and identify strategic sourcing opportunities.
  • Educate internal teams on sourcing policies, processes, and systems.
  • Apply deep knowledge of R&D procurement categories and industry / market trends to guide sourcing decisions.
  • Develop and execute category sourcing strategies supporting global R&D spend.
  • Manage third-party R&D service providersperformance, compliance, risk, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead RFx processes (RFI / RFQ / RFP), supplier qualification, cost analysis, negotiation, and supplier selection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Life Sciences or Business.
  • 58 years of procurement, sourcing, or related strategic operations experience.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D processes.
  • Proven RFx experience in cross-functional environments.
  • Ability to deliver measurable results in complex, global organizations.

    • Compensation (MA Pay Transparency)

  • Estimated hourly range : $70$80 / hr (W-2)
  • Final rate within this range depends on experience, qualifications, and interview performance.
