Under the immediate supervision of the Director of School Based Mental Health Services, performs assigned therapy and skills training services.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED :
- Interviews consumers, their relatives, and other interested individuals and agencies to obtain social and developmental histories to discover social / psychological problems.
- Performs therapeutic treatment with consumers or relatives of consumers, under supervision of the Unit Director or Supervisor in consultation with a psychiatrist or other physician.
- Participates as a team member in conferences designed for the diagnosis and treatment of consumers.
- Participates in the interpretation of methods and procedures to agencies responsible for carrying out recommendations of the clinic.
- May supervise volunteers and students / interns.
- Acts as liaison between all appropriate agencies, Lorena ISD, physicians, relatives of consumers and community resources for purposes of admission, treatment and discharge planning.
- May participate in budget planning, unit administration, and program development.
- Increases knowledge of Psychotherapeutic, Skill streaming, and social work concepts by attendance.
- Performs related work as required.
Education and Experience :
A master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related fields from an accredited school.Fully licensed (LPC, LCSW, RN, etc) or licensure candidate (LPC- Associate, LMSW, etc.)One year case management preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of therapy and social work.Needs to be knowledgeable about the functioning of social services, treatment facilities, and community resources, and how to use them effectively.Must have excellent written / verbal communication skills.Must have excellent time management and organizational skills.Ability to learn about and implement trauma-informed care practices within the scope of work for the position.Must be able to lift up to 15lbs.Must be able to travel locally 5%; Regionally 30% and be able to transport clients.Must have and maintain a level of general health that permits the performance of the job duties and ability to maintain regular attendance as set forth in Center policies and procedures.Position : 235
