Privia Medical Group, NTX is a multi-specialty medical group committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Professional Coder (CPC) to join our compliance and coding team. This position plays a key role in ensuring our documentation and coding practices meet CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Position Summary :
The Coding Auditor will be responsible for conducting audits of medical documentation to ensure accurate coding in compliance with CMS and payer-specific guidelines. The role also provides ongoing coding education and support to physicians and clinical staff, serving as a resource for accurate and compliant coding practices.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform regular and targeted audits of outpatient and / or inpatient medical records to assess coding accuracy, documentation quality, and compliance with CMS guidelines.
- Review provider documentation for proper assignment of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes.
- Identify and report coding trends, errors, and risk areas with actionable feedback.
- Provide coding guidance and clarification to physicians and clinical staff.
- Deliver education and training to providers based on audit findings, regulatory changes, or coding updates.
- Stay up to date on CMS regulations, payer rules, and coding / billing best practices.
- Collaborate with billing, compliance, and clinical departments to resolve coding-related issues.
- Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Certification : CPC (Certified Professional Coder) required and current, issued by AAPC.
Experience : Minimum of 2–3 years of professional coding experience in a medical group or healthcare system; prior audit experience preferred.
Knowledge :
Thorough understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS coding systemsStrong working knowledge of CMS guidelines, coding compliance, and medical terminologyFamiliarity with EMR / EHR systems NextGen and AthenaSkills :
Excellent analytical and critical-thinking skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills for education and documentationAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamHigh attention to detail and organizational skillsPreferred Qualifications :
Experience conducting provider education or coding training sessionsPrior auditing experience using established audit tools or proprietary templatesFamiliarity with Risk Adjustment / HCC coding (if applicable to practice)NON Remote, must live in the area and / or willing to relocate to the Fort Worth areaWhat We Offer :
