REPORTING RELATIONSHIP : Assistant Director, Office of Special Education (OSE)
Summary
Evaluate students referred as potential candidates for Special Education program and present
reports to school based teams on students evaluated. Collaborate with school-based teams to to provide academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support and services to enhance student well-being.

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
- Master’s or Specialist degree from an accredited University in School Psychology required
- Meet the requirements as specified in the most recent Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education.
- Nationally Certified School Psychologists preferred
- Fully Certified School Psychologist preferred. Preliminary School Psychologist certification permitted
- Must have (or secure within the first school year) CPI certification
Education & Experience
A minimum of three years of experience as a School Psychologist preferredPossess broad-based knowledge of a wide range of student populations and specialeducation programs and services, preschool through high school.Skilled in the development of academic and behavioral interventions and the organization and design of specialized programmingKnowledge and experience in best practices for assessing students with a wide range of impairments, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Impairments, Emotional Impairments and others.Familiarity with behavioral approaches such as applied behavior analysis, functional behavior assessments and plans, social skills training, peer-to-peer programming, social-emotional learning, responsive classroom and restorative practices desiredAble to utilize a wide variety of assessments, including standardized cognitive and academic assessments, curriculum-based assessments and behavioral assessments in the evaluation of student learning and progress monitoringExperience in developing school-wide support systems to improve student achievementExperience with English Language (EL) learners and culturally and economically diverse populationsJob Responsibilities
Provide individual and group services to children and / or parents that emphasize improved educational performance and / or conduct, such as mental health supports, social skills groups, parent consultations and connections to community resources.Conduct psychoeducational evaluations using a variety of measures and coordinate the activities of multidisciplinary evaluation teams, participate in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) committee contributing evaluation findings and collaborating on the child’s educational planMaintain compliance with special education procedures and timelinesUsing the MTSS Process, will provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results to parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the child’s program and any adaptations / materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at homeProvide direct services through a variety of methods (e.g., classroom presentations, in-services to staff / parents, intervention groups for students etc.) as neededMaintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information. Re-evaluate, as appropriate, to determine extent of progress and effectiveness of interventionEstablish and monitor the necessary caseloads, procedures, and resources to manage school psychological services to students / staff and work cooperatively to accomplish the goals of the IEPAdhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education programs. Participate in activities that promote professional development and use clinical / educational research to enhance therapeutic services.Supports and implements District policies, regulations, procedures, and administrative directives; Supports and follows the policies and procedures of the school districts served.Submits records, reports and assignments promptly and efficientlyDemonstrates ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of thier dutiesSeeks and takes advantage of opportunities for professional growth.Implement the District’s emergency use of seclusion and restraint if a student’s behavior poses an imminent risk to the safety of that student or othersAssists with other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or Designee.This is a full time position requiring regular and reliable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
