Reports To : Custodial Supervisor

Pay Grade : Starting at Grade 1 Step 1 $15.42 per hour

Schedule : 5 hours per day / 9 : 00 AM 2 : 00 PM

Job Summary : Employee will be responsible for custodial and grounds related activities to help maintain clean safe and functional school grounds in accordance with district standards. This position plays a key role in maintaining buildings athletic fields turf areas parking lots landscaping and outdoor equipment to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students staff and the community .

Qualifications :

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Prior landscape management experience preferred
• Knowledge skills and experience necessary to perform grounds work efficiently
• Ability to build effective working relationships with students staff and the community
• Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English
• Ability to learn and adapt to new procedures equipment and techniques
• Ability to operate computers email and work order software
• Valid Michigan drivers license with a good driving record required

The employee is occasionally required to employee must frequently squat stoop or kneel reach above the head and reach employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs onto employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.

The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies packing and unloading the employee will lift and / or move 80 pounds such as salt and employees will sometimes push / pull items such as tables bleachers scrubbing machines vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment :

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work will be performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities as well.

Mental Functions :

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to compare analyze communicate both orally and in writing copy coordinate instruct compute synthesize evaluate use interpersonal skills compile and negotiate.

Evaluation : In accordance with the Custodial and Food Service Agreement.

Terms of Employment :

The employee will remain free of any alcohol or drugs throughout his / her employment with the district as outlined in Board Policy #4210.
