Position Overview : Describes the overall purpose or why the position exists
The Sexual Wellness RN provides primary and sexual wellness care in an ambulatory setting, including work on STI prevention, testing, and treatment. The Sexual Wellness RN provides applicable patients with education related to safe sex and relationship to support sexual health and wellness efforts. The Sexual Wellness RN also provides primary care to patients in a health center or through telephone triage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : The following description is a general representation of the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Collaborate with STI prevention and nursing leadership to develop and implement nursing protocols to promote same-day access to sexual healthcare.
- Provide HIV prevention education including testing and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) education to patients and staff. Assist HIV Prevention team and nursing leadership to develop and implement PrEP protocols to promote same-day access to sexual healthcare and PrEP adherence.
- Conduct STI and HIV testing including through the use of rapid testing. Develop necessary protocols to improve efficiency, accuracy, and availability of testing.
- Obtain baseline data on patients including medical history, vital signs, lab tests, and health education. Assess patient problem, develop, and implement patient care plan. Educate patients based upon health, illness, and self-care practices to promote positive lifestyle choices and improved health habits. Develop and present courses on related topics to patients and community residents as requested.
- Perform telephone triage : assess patient problems, evaluate knowledge of health, illness, and self care practices, and develop and implement patient plan of care or refer to other medical provider as indicated.
- Assure timely and accurate documentation of patient care observations and activities. Maintain complete and accurate documentation in patient's Electronic Medical Record. Collect signed consent forms and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with Clinical Care team regarding linkage to care and case management. Assist Program Coordinator in reviewing EMR registry to provide proactive care for high risk patients.
- Attend training courses to stay up to date on STI prevention best practices, techniques, and emerging trends. Develop and teach classes to patients, community residents, and staff on relevant health topics.
- Advocate for patient needs and refer to community groups for additional resources as needed. Provide education to empower patients in managing their health, identify gaps in care, and track outcomes to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care for the entire patient population.

Education, Licensure, Experience :
Current and Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in state of OhioAssociate's degree or higher required.1+ years as RN in clinical or community health setting strongly preferredExperience with sexual health and wellness services preferredKnowledge and Skills :
Ability to speak a language other than English preferredAble to maintain effective professional relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.Experience with EPIC EMR preferredComputer proficiency across Microsoft Office Suite and Clinical ApplicationsAbility to act as patient advocate, responding to patient and family concerns with empathy and respect.Adhere to a professional code of ethics, able to maintain professional and respectful boundaries with patients and staff from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.Proactively educates self on quality care, professional skills, and emerging trends in healthcare.Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment :
Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including through the use of electronic communication devices.Local Travel required. Driver's License and Vehicle Insurance strongly preferred.Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
