Now Hiring for Director of Nursing
The Director of Nursing provides visionary leadership and administrative oversight for all nursing education programs at Surry Community College. This role ensures compliance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON), accreditation standards, and institutional policies. The Director is responsible for the overall organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and evaluation of the nursing programs. The position requires collaboration with faculty, staff, clinical partners, and community stakeholders to promote excellence in nursing education and student success.
Leadership and Administration
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Associate Degree and related nursing programs in alignment with college mission and NCBON standards.
- Ensure compliance with 21 NCAC 36.0317 , maintaining authority and responsibility for all areas of the nursing program.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals, policies, and procedures consistent with institutional and state requirements.
- Maintain a comprehensive written program evaluation plan to include student achievement, program outcomes, resources, and continuous quality improvement.
- Prepare annual and long-range plans, budgets, and program review reports.
- Oversee accreditation and regulatory reporting, ensuring timely submission of all required documentation to NCBON and other agencies.
Faculty Oversight and Development
Recruit, recommend, and evaluate full-time and part-time nursing faculty; ensure all faculty meet Board qualifications.Provide orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development to nursing faculty.Conduct annual faculty performance evaluations and assist faculty in professional growth plans.Promote a collegial, collaborative environment that values innovation.Curriculum and Instruction
Coordinate curriculum development, review, and revision consistent with state and accreditation standards.Prepare class and clinical schedules in collaboration with faculty.Maintain up-to-date course outlines, textbooks, software, and educational resources.Coordinate clinical placements and ensure adequate clinical learning experiences.Ensure clinical clearance for nursing students and faculty.Teach a reduced instructional load
