Position Title : Individual Placement Program

Position Summary :

Northwest Youth Corps is recruiting individual placements for project work including but not limited to : Interpretation and Education, Developed Recreation, Forestry, Fisheries, Biological Technician , Cultural Resources, Trail Crew, Facilities / Maintenance and Watershed support within Idaho, Oregon and Washington . The members will serve with a specific a gency for a term of service that can range from 8 to 26 weeks in duration .

About Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) :

Northwest Youth Corps was created in 1984 to offer teenagers and young adults an education-based, work experience modeled after the historic Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930's. Today, we serve over 1,000 youth and young adults each year across a four-state region who restore critical habitat, build trails, lead volunteers, and educate youth and young adults to learn , grow and experience success.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Specific activities and duties may include the following :

  • Interacting with the Public at your Service Site
  • Outdoor Education Outreach
  • Representing your serving agency in community events or through communications / social media
  • Collecting and Managing Data
  • Invasive Species Management
  • Trail Maintenance / Building
  • Inventory / Cataloguing
  • Administrative Duties
  • Tool Maintenance
  • Trade Skills Use (Carpentry / Masonry / Plumbing / Etc )
  • To assist in maintaining agency facilities
  • Fence Building
  • Natural Resource Surveys
  • Campground Maintenance

Required Qualifications :

  • Ages 18-30 (up to 35 for veterans)
  • U.S. Citizen or lawful, permanent resident
  • Must pass a background / driver check
  • Must have high school diploma / GED
  • Desired Qualifications (Depending on the position) :

  • Driver's License
  • Personal transportation
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work outside in remote settings and inclement weather
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in Natural / Cultural Resource Management and public land agencies
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to use hand and / or power tools
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to Detail
  • Duty L ocation :

    Duties are performed within a specific project site . Additional information will be provided at a later date.

    Terms of Employment :

    One intern will complete a term of service (length dependent on commitment of hours), starting Summer / Fall of 2025 for a duration between 8- 26 w eeks . The intern will average 40 hours of labor per week, minus holidays .

    Interns are responsible for providing their own personal transportation and food. Housing may be provided.

    Program Benefits :

    Interns will earn a to be determined living allowance dispersed on a monthly basis throughout the duration of the Term. All opportunities are provided with a living allowance, and t he living allowance is taxable. Additional benefits are dependent on the position , but may include gear fund, housing fund, health insurance, training, Education Award or Public Lands Corps Hiring Authority.
