LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE - ACUTE CARE OF THE ELDERLY DEPARTMENT - 36 HOURS - NIGHT SHIFT

Shift : Nights 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM, Rotating every other weekend

GENERAL SUMMARY : Unit Description :

Henry Ford St John Hospital's 4 East Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) unit is a 24-bed unit specializing in geriatric care as well as some stroke cases of all ages. Our nurses have a typical patient ratio of 5 : 1, and the support of Registered Nurses, Nurse Interns and Patient Care Technicians on a daily basis. We operate with a team mentality, and enjoy building relationships with our patients throughout their stay (typically a minimum of 3 days). • Provides care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.
• Contributes to the assessment of patients and assures the well-being of patients.
• Administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
• Educates patients / families about disease treatment plan including self-care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.
