The Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (CELS) is seeking a self-motivated and knowledgeable Clinical Simulation Educator – RN to support the mission, purpose and goals of the center to collaboratively work with the leadership, faculty, and staff across the institution to ensure evidence-based clinical standards and simulation best practices are reflected in institution simulation activities. The Clinical Simulation Educator – RN will provide curricular and assessment guidance for educational activities related to simulation. This includes collaboration with simulation faculty to design, implement, facilitate, and debrief manikin-based, standardized patient simulations. Clinical simulation faculty provide instruction and debriefing in an inter-professional environment that serves many clinical disciplines including (but not limited to) medicine, physician assistant, pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy, clinical psychology. The Clinical Simulation Educator – RN ensures activities support the organization’s mission of excellent patient care and nursing’s vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.
About This Role : Simulation Operation
- Operates and manages state of the art simulation equipment, audio / visual recording software, multiple computer programs, and materials related to simulation learning in the healthcare center.
- Creates a mixed reality simulation through the use of embedded participants, incorporation of healthcare equipment, medical devices, and application of moulage to build an immersive and realistic environment.
- Monitors cost-effective use of human and material resources.
- Manages risk and safety issues.
- Adapts technology to meet setting requirements.
- Performs institutional simulation within multiple hospital and clinical locations to improve interdisciplinary functions and identify latent safety threats.
- Operates human patient simulators based on goals and objectives identified by the faculty.
Education
Leads training and orientation of faculty in the use of simulation equipment and scenarios.Leads tours and simulation sessions for internal / external groups and / or individuals.Aids in developing new courses or training initiatives alongside program leadership.Engages in educational endeavors to maximize proficiency with simulation technology and implement skills to facilitate learning.Assist with coordination of simulation and skills rooms.Supports clinical skills and simulation for associates, staff, physicians, students and faculty to meet course objectives.Promotes patient safety and quality outcomes through systems assessment.Assist in data collection and generate utilization reports as requested.Performs educational research activities such as data collection and analysis.Delegates task to interns and work study students.Maintenance
Maintenance of simulation equipment including preventative maintenance.Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment needed for simulation.Evaluation
Assists in evaluation training effectiveness and achievement of learning outcomes.Identifies training needs using surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communications with leadership.About the College of Medicine
