Position Summary : The Latchkey Assistant is responsible for assisting in all Latchkey programs.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Assist the latchkey director in all activities.
- Be on sight during assigned latchkey program hours.
- Drive bus or corps van to drop off or pick up children from school as needed .
- Responsible for the care and well-being of program participants
- Identifies and meet individual program participants needs
- Provides friendly hospitality to those we serve
- Recognizes and provide opportunities for group interaction, problem solving, and decision making
- Guides group or individuals in activity plans
- Carries out established roles in enforcing facility safety regulations and implementing emergency procedures
- Cleans tables and vacuum carpets where necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Education / Experience :
Minimum of High School diploma / GED desired, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesTraining and / or education experience in youth programming, ministry and / or social services preferredMust be at least 18 years oldMust meet all Michigan Department of Human Service (DHS) guidelines for childcare center program assistantsPrevious experience in childcare is desirableSkills, Knowledge & Abilities :
Maintain confidentialityComputer Skills :
Working in Microsoft Office 365Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePointWillingness to learn new software as neededCertificates and Licenses :
Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as neededMust have and maintain a current valid chauffers' license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR); or gain chauffers' license within 30 daysAbility to obtain and maintain training and certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and Blood Pathogen
