JOB SUMMARY :
The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist will be responsible for facilitating accurate and timely clinical documentation through concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records, developing and formatting compliant physician querying, and assignment of working DRGs. The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist will help identify opportunities for improvement in inpatient clinical medical documentation to reflect the accurate severity of illness, expected risk of mortality, and complexity of care of the patient, including appropriate principal diagnosis / procedure and secondary diagnoses / procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
1.Education / Work Experience / Licensure :
a) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (And) Two (2) Year Work Experience of acute / critical care nursing experience
Associate Degree in Nursing (And) Three (3) Years Work Experience of acute / critical care nursing experience
b)Current RN licensure
c) Certificate : Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist credential through ACDIS or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner credential through AHIMA (required within 3 years of employment).
2.Management Experience (Years and Area) : None required
3.Equipment Operated : Standard Office Equipment
