City of Laredo is seeking a dedicated professional for a grant-funded position within the Health Department's 6053 HIV Clinic. This role is vital in providing routine medical office, laboratory, and HIV prevention support services.
Job Description
The position involves performing routine medical office, laboratory, and HIV prevention support work. Key responsibilities include :
- Assisting with client intake, data entry, phlebotomy, and laboratory specimen preparation.
- Performing all types of HIV and STI testing, including rapid HIV, syphilis, hepatitis C, and collecting specimens for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and other required tests.
- Entering testing data into electronic medical records and state-required reporting systems with accuracy and timeliness.
- Providing assistance to Disease Control Services by helping with patient follow-up, documentation, and coordination of services.
- Supporting providers and program staff with clinical, testing, and prevention activities, maintaining testing and lab supplies, and entering client information into required electronic systems.
- Working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the effective delivery of HIV prevention and disease control services.
Essential Functions / Job Competencies / Physical Requirements
The position requires knowledge of HIV and STI prevention practices, including HIV, syphilis, hepatitis C, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and related testing procedures. Skills and abilities include :
Ability to use computer hardware, various software programs and technologies, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.Ability to speak before public groups and make presentations.Ability to take and follow directions from the supervisor.Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff.Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general public complaints.Ability to project a positive and professional image of the City of Laredo.Ability to comply with all City of Laredo's policies and procedures.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position.Minimum Qualifications
Required education and experience include :
High School Diploma or G.E.D.At least two (2) years of experience in progressively responsible administrative work, health administrative or clinical work (front & back of office), or health project work.Required certifications include :
Medical Office Assistant or Medical Assistant Certification accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).Valid Texas Driver License.Additional requirements include :
