Established in 2002, the Cat Clinic of Iowa City remains Iowa City's sole feline-exclusive full-service veterinary clinic.

Position Purpose

Full-Time Veterinarian - Cat Whisperer Wanted!

Salary : $100,000-$120,000 annually

At Cat Clinic of Iowa City , we're a feline-only practice where cats rule and humans obey (but with love). We're currently seeking an experienced full-time veterinarian who doesn't just tolerate cats-they understand them. The kneading, the dramatic flops, the sudden 3 a.m. zoomies-you've seen it all and you're still smitten.

What We're Looking For :

  • An experienced DVM (2+ years preferred) with strong clinical skills and a soft spot for the purring kind.
  • A true cat enthusiast who's confident managing both routine and complex feline cases.
  • Someone comfortable working independently while collaborating with a team that loves cats almost as much as you do.
  • Excellent communication skills-you know how to educate, empathize, and reassure even the most nervous cat parent.

    Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients' medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

    • Requirements / Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA / BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
