Responsibilities
Install and maintain telecommunication equipment for a variety of carriers, including fiber, transport equipment, and related infrastructure within central offices and customer technical spaces (data centers, mobile switch centers, central office wire centers, and designated enterprise spaces).
Physically place, remove, or modify non-working equipment; install cabling support structures and perform infrastructure modifications.
Install data equipment cabinets / frames, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, and firewalls.
Identify, label, measure, terminate, and route cables supplying power or data; route fiber optic and copper cables with precise cable management.
Perform basic cable testing (fiber and copper continuity) and resolve equipment / technical issues as they arise.
Read, analyze, and interpret specifications, drawings, blueprints, schematics, and MOPs; perform quality validation and complete required paperwork (expense reports, timesheets, job documentation, daily status reports).
Work independently under the direction of the lead installer; interface with customers, local supervisors, and other teams (Installation, Engineering, Project Management).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety
Adhere to and promote compliance with safety regulations and Circet USA Injury and Illness Prevention Program; participate in job site safety / hazard analyses as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or college degree preferred.
Two years of central office equipment installation experience preferred.
Understanding of AT&T, Telcordia, and / or Verizon Quality Standards; basic knowledge of transport equipment (e.g., Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, Calix, Adtran, Nortel, Nokia).
Background in fiber optic cable and AC / DC power installation / testing; proficient with Microsoft programs and IOS / Android applications.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation; good mechanical aptitude with basic power tool use.
Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills; problem-solving ability (define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions).
Additional Skills
Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions; ability to write routine reports and speak effectively before others.
Strong ability to apply common sense in carrying out written or oral instructions.
Travel
Willing to travel; valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and proof of insurance; reliable transportation to transport tools and equipment to work locations.
Physical Demands
The role requires standing, manual dexterity, walking, sitting, climbing, bending, kneeling, and frequent lifting (typically 5-50 lbs, occasionally over 50 lbs). Vision requirements include close, color, peripheral vision and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
The work environment is typically moderate in noise; reasonable accommodations are available to enable performance of essential duties.
